Finding Joy & Ease in Relationship with Yourself & Others
A Tool for Self-Knowledge
For a moment, imagine what your life would be like if you could…
…release all judgment on your Self-worth.
…feel totally safe and comfortable having true and honest intimacy in your relationships.
…be completely comfortable (even proud!) with all the beautiful quirks that make up who you are.
…not be so judgmental of others.
Sit with that for a minute and see how it feels.
What comes up for you?
If what comes up is a feeling of “I wish” and not “I have”, then my upcoming Joy & Ease in Relationships with Self and Others class is most certainly for you.
Prior to attending yoga teacher training I spent 7 years in school studying the psychology of interpersonal relationships. While in the program I came across Jung’s theory of the inner shadow. I was fascinated by it and dove deep into the study of it. At the same time, I was beginning a long and dedicated journey of Self study. I used what I learned about the shadow to learn about myself. That is when I discovered this process for understanding myself that I still use–10 years later–on a daily basis. It has given me a new perspective of myself and others. It has allowed me to be
more open to other people’s quirks and
MUCH MORE lighthearted about the parts of me that I was once so critical of.
I used to hold myself to some standard of perfection, which always left me feeling disappointed with myself. After hanging out with others, I would replay certain things I said or ways I acted and feel shame or embarrassment. Why couldn’t I be cooler or more laid back? Why did I have to talk so much and give myself away so easily?
This negative self-talk didn’t feel very good and became quite exhausting. Even though it sometimes sounded nice, I knew my escapist fantasy of running off to an isolated forest in Canada with only animals around me wasn’t really in the cards for me. I was well aware that whatever part of me that I was trying to run from wouldn’t be too far behind. “Wherever you go there you are!” Instead, I decided to dive deep and figure out what I could do to feel better about myself–to actually like myself. It was in the shadow that I was able to find exactly what I was looking for: Self-love and acceptance.
Read here for an example of this in my story.

“The [Joy & Ease] workshop changed how I move through the world. The tools I learned help me to navigate the triggers and stresses of life more effectively and with more positive results. This process gave me valuable insights into my relationships and led me to a greater sense of ease and flow. I recommend [Joy & Ease] to anyone looking to understand themselves and others better.”

“Catherine’s [Joy & Ease]workshop provides for transformative personal growth. She provides the guidance and support to help you think through and understand your whole self especially those shadow elements we often hide. I walked away from this great workshop with insights that have stayed with me. My reactions to other people, for example, have lessened dramatically as I see how those reactions reflect who I am and how I view myself. The heightened awareness from working with Catherine is a true gift.”

“I can’t thank you enough for our work together! By helping me observe my emotions and root out core beliefs I was finally able to see the suppressed side of myself. I feel so free!! I must admit I didn’t understand the shadow when we first started working together. But with your patience and knowledge you helped me embrace my complete self. I feel limitless and free! Thank you for being such an amazing coach!“
~ Jamie, Los Angeles, CA
“I really enjoyed [Joy & Ease]. It is challenging for me to put into a couple of sentences what my experience was because I’m still processing the ideas and working on the delicacies of it. In lieu of having concise words for this ongoing process of self-discovery, I want to share a quote I discovered the other day. It really made me think of the [Joy & Ease] workshop I attended. ‘When you have come to the edge of all light that you know and are about to drop off into the darkness of the unknown, Faith is knowing one of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on or You will be taught to fly’ (Patrick Overton)”

“‘[Joy & Ease] gave me a chance to discover and explore some aspects of myself that I don’t usually look at, in a safe space with other women who were doing the same. I think the most valuable aspect of the experience was leaving with a framework for how to approach this exploration that I could then go out and apply on my own–instead of just gaining the benefit of the experience in the moment, I feel like I actually gained a “tool” in my tool belt for how to approach novel situations.”
